A Yemeni fisherman was killed on Thursday by Eritrean naval fire in Yemeni territorial waters in the Red Sea, shipping sources said.

According to the sources, a gunboat belonging to the Eritrean Navy shot a Yemeni fisherman named Ibn Al-Noussi Al-Baydi, one of the sons of the village of Wahjah, Dhubab district, while he was fishing in Yemeni territorial waters, killing him instantly.

Yemeni fishermen are subjected to repeated attacks by the Eritrean navy, which has resulted in the deaths and injures of fishermen, in addition to taking hundreds of Yemeni fishermen to Eritrean prisons and seizing their boats and equipment.

The Eritrean forces also practice various types of torture against Yemeni fishermen in light of the silence of the United Nations and the complete inability of the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition to protect them.
