Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Sana’a government, Hussein Al-Ezzi, stated on Saturday that the ship “Nautica”, the new floating tank alternative to the Safer tank, has begun its travel towards Yemen.
“The ship is heading to Hodeidah, and we are waiting for its safe arrival,” Al-Ezzi said on Twitter.
Mr. David Gressly, the United Nations Resident Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, said earlier on Twitter that the Nautica ship had sailed from Djibouti, on its way to the Yemeni coast on the Red Sea.
Gressly, who is aboard the replacement ship, affirmed that the oil transfer process will begin as soon as Nautica reaches the Safer site, where it will anchor alongside the specialised support ship “Nedefor” in order to “accommodate about one million barrels of crude oil on board the giant tank.”
