The capital, Sana’a, and a number of Yemeni provinces witnessed mass rallies on Saturday, which warned Americans against approaching Yemeni territorial waters.
The participants issued a statement during the rallies that took place on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Zaid and addressed the foreign forces present in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, saying: “Do not play with fire, and beware of approaching our waters and islands, for we will make you pay dearly for it.”
The statement called on the Yemeni people for permanent readiness to deter enemies from continuing their actions, and to save the country from their evil and tyranny. It urged the Saudi-led coalition to cease aggression, address prisoners and reconstruction issues, and refrain from plots to encroach upon the country.
“With the continuation of the siege and the prevention of paying the salaries, we consider this a full-fledged aggression, and our people, our leadership, and our army will not stand idly by,” the statement warned.
Imam Zaid was killed in Muharram 25, in 740 AD after fighting courageously for justice against the much larger army of the Umayyad Caliphate. The event gave rise to the Zaidiyyah sect of Shia Islam, which holds him as the next Imam after his father Ali ibn al-Husayn Zayn al-Abidin.
Muharram is one of the most sacred months in the Islamic calendar because of the sacrifices that were made by the family of Prophet Muhammad to establish the message of humanity. The first ten days of the month hold the most significance during which the battle of Imam Hussain took place.
These two battles renews in Muslims grief and reminds them of the great affliction, ignites in their hearts enthusiasm to start in the line of Hussein, Zaid (AS) and to join their faith in rejecting oppression and tyrants.
