The delegation of the national fencing team arrived today in the Jordanian capital, Amman, to participate in the AFC U-17 and Western AFC U-23 championships, which will start next Wednesday.
The team delegation, headed by the Assistant Secretary-General of the Football Federation, Mohamed Badr Saleh, includes the players Osama Badi, Ahmed Al-Yousifi, Al-Hassan Al-Salmi and Saad Al-Madhaji, under the supervision of the national coach, Mohammed Masoud, and his assistant, Abdul Rahman Samir.
The national team coach explained that the national team players will compete in the foil, and the épée, weapons, stressing that the players have high morale and determination to appear honorably in the two tournaments.
He said, “We aspire to a distinguished performance and an honorable presence, despite the modest preparation process to participate in these two competitions, in addition to the strong technical levels of the participating teams.”
He considered Yemen’s participation in two Asian forums an achievement in itself, given the difficult circumstances that the Yemeni game and sports in general went through as a result of the aggression and blockade.
