Saudi Arabia continued its advance towards the stronghold of the Emirati factions in Shabwa Governorate, southeastern Yemen.
Informed sources said that units of the Ataq axis forces loyal to Islah, and supported by Saudi Arabia, advanced a few kilometers deep into the Jardan District border with the city of Ataq, where the leadership of the Emirati factions is based.
The continued Saudi incursion into Shabwa comes amid final arrangements to overthrow the center of the local authority loyal to the Emirates, and establish the authority of its new factions.
Shabwa has witnessed unprecedented tensions recently, with the escalation of Al-Qaeda attacks on transitional sites and camps, in light of accusations against Saudi Arabia of redeploying the organization’s groups in the oil governorate, as part of moves to launch a joint battle against the factions of the Council.
