A foreign company announced the cessation of its activities and the layoff of workers due to the cessation of oil exports since last October.

Reports confirm that the cessation of the oil company’s activities comes  because of the  measures taken by the Yemeni armed forces to prevent the plundering of Yemeni oil and gas wealth in the occupied south.

The Austrian company OMV, operating in the Al-Uqla oil field in the occupied Shabwa Governorate, announced the dismissal of 200 of its employees.

The company said that it was unable to achieve any revenues from its activities in the “S2” sector, due to the total cessation of oil exports and sales, more than ten months ago.

The company’s statement explained its inability to provide alternative work following the cessation of production and oil exports to date.

According to the company, the decision to dispense with it comes as an attempt to reduce the ongoing large financial losses, and to avoid, to the greatest extent possible, the complete closure of the company’s operations.
