UNICEF :600 homes were destroyed and damaged by Hurricane Tej in Socotra

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that Cyclone Tej “caused the destruction of 300 homes and damaged 314 other homes in Socotra Governorate.

It  added through a post on the “X” platform, “The hurricane also led to the displacement of more than 6,400 people, including 3,328 children, in Al-Mahra Governorate.

The organization indicated that it is “ready to meet the immediate needs of families affected by the hurricane.

The report stated: “The hurricane caused damage to about 50 percent of the roads, especially in the eastern regions, and it was also impossible to reach the Ras Arsal area east of Socotra, as a result of the road being cut off in the Ar Ahar area.

He added, “The hurricane’s damages included partial damage to the port of Hulaf, the sinking of two fiberglass ferries in the port basin, 100 homes were exposed to partial and total damage, the entry of seawater into some homes near the sea in Hadibuh and the Halat area, and also the interruption of the Yemen Mobile network  in Qalansiyah District, and the southern coastal strip is the Nojd area.”
