The Israeli “Channel 12” revealed that the Al-Qassam Brigades managed last Saturday to target and destroy an Israeli CH-53 Yasur helicopter, carrying 50 soldiers on board, in the first hours of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation to take control of the settlement of Be’eri in the Gaza envelope.
According to the channel, the elite fighters of al-Qassam Brigades shot the helicopter’s engine, forcing the plane to land, after which it was targeted and destroyed with anti-tank missiles.
Israel continues to confine details regarding the fate of the soldiers on board.
The Yasur is the common name for a class of heavy transport helicopters manufactured by the American company Sikorsky. It was developed for the US Marines, and is used by US, German, Israeli, and Mexican forces.
