The American “Bloomberg” network reported that more than 100 container carriers have already changed their course away from the Red Sea, to take a longer route around the continent of Africa, while the United States is preparing to move against the Houthis, who have escalated their operations in the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea against Israeli tankers or those that heading to the occupying state.

The network quoted the giant logistics company Kuehne+Nagel as saying that 103 container ships changed their course from the Red Sea to the Cape of Good Hope route, around Africa.

It noted that companies have also begun to consider using railway and air lines instead, as the waterway, which carries 12% of global trade, is considered too risky.

Ansar Allah confirmed that their movement against the tankers only targets Israeli tankers or those heading to the occupying state, in response to the Israeli massacres against the Palestinians in Gaza, as well as the occupation authorities’ prevention of the entry of food, drink, and aid to the people of the Palestinian Strip.

Bloomberg reported that the attacks created an emergency worse and more lasting than the Suez Canal closure in 2021, when a ship stuck for a week hampered global trade for weeks.

The disruption also comes at a time when the movement of another major artery, the Panama Canal, is slowing due to drought ; however; the global shipping system is in even greater stagnation than it was when the Ever Given got stuck in the Suez Canal.
