Eilat Port revenues decrease by 80%

The Israeli newspaper “Calcalist” revealed that the General Director of the Israeli port of “Eilat”, Gideon Golber, said that the port is witnessing a sharp decline in the scope of activity, and a decline of more than 80% in revenues since the Yemeni armed forces announced the closure of Bab al-Mandab to ships heading to the entity.

The General Director of the Port of Eilat said that the Japanese company NYK stopped sending ships through the Red Sea to Israeli ports, and ordered the ships it manages to divert to ports in Europe, as a result of threats from Yemen.

The General Director of the Port of Eilat said, warning that someone here in Israel should wake up and demand a solution to this situation.

The failure of ships to arrive in Eilat means there is no income for the port. Guler added: The entity’s government will demand compensation for the loss of revenues.
