Spain denied its participation in the American coalition to protect Israeli ships in the Red Sea.
Spanish media quoted the Ministry of Defense as saying that it “Spain does not intend to participate bilaterally in the alliance announced by Washington in the Red Sea.
“ The Spanish government spokeswoman announced that the country “will not participate unilaterally in the international naval force deployed by the United States.”
The Spanish newspaper El Pais said, “Spain will not interfere in the operation unless NATO or the European Union decides to do so.” Emphasizing that “Spain did not agree to participate in the maritime coalition against Yemen, contrary to what the United States announced.”
