The giant Danish shipping company Maersk announced on Tuesday that its fleet will not resume crossing a strategic strait in the Red Sea after this order was suspended on Sunday.
“We have decided to stop all transit operations in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden until further notice,” the company said in a statement, adding that an investigation is underway.
On Sunday, the Danish container ship “Maersk Hangzhou” was hit by a missile while passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait after it ignored instructions from the Yemeni naval forces to prevent the passage of ships heading to the Israeli occupation ports.
The American forces then targeted Yemeni naval forces boats, leading to the martyrdom of 10 of its members, according to a statement by the Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman.
“In cases where it makes more sense for our customers, ships will be redirected (via) the Cape of Good Hope” in the southernmost tip of Africa, Maersk said.
The Yemeni armed forces announced the implementation of military operations to prevent the passage of Israeli ships heading to enemy ports until the aggression is stopped and the siege on Gaza and the Palestinian people is lifted.
