Iranian authorities executed on Monday four members of an espionage cell linked to Israel’s Mossad spy agency. The four were arrested for planning bombing operations in the city of Isfahan last year.
According to the Fars News Agency, the Iranian Ministry of Security announced in July 2022 the arrest of an operational cell recruited by the Mossad, which illegally infiltrated Iran through the Kurdistan region of Iraq with the aim of bombing a factory for the production of military and missile equipment in Isfahan.
The case of the cell members, consisting of 4 individuals, was referred to the Islamic Revolutionary Court after completing the investigations.
They were convicted of espionage for Israel on September 22 of last year, and the death sentence was issued against them.
The convicted individuals appealed the verdict in front of the country’s Supreme Court, which, after reviewing the case, rejected the appeal and upheld the initial sentence. As a result, the death sentence was carried out against them this morning.”
