Disagreements with the Biden administration fail a meeting on the Red Sea

The United States failed, on Wednesday, to agree on a new strategy in the Red Sea.

American media sources reported that the Biden administration held a meeting late in the evening at the emergency team level, which includes the Ministries of Defense and State and the National Security Advisor, noting that the meeting was devoted to discussing developments in the Red Sea.

The sources explained that differences remained prevalent in the atmosphere of the meeting in light of Biden’s rejection of a greater military escalation in Yemen in light of the demonstration of unprecedented military capabilities by what they described as the “Houthis.”

The sources indicated that Biden fears drowning further in an ill-defined confrontation, and sees activating diplomatic channels as the best way to avoid a new defeat for his country in the Red Sea.

The meeting is the second of its kind since last January, when American forces began a massive aggression against Yemeni cities.

The new meeting comes on the eve of developments in the Red Sea, most notably the Yemeni forces shooting down an American drone and intensifying their attacks on American ships, in addition to directing naval missiles towards American battleships for the first time, according to the American Defense Department.

The latest developments come a day after Yemen decided to classify America and Britain on the list of countries hostile to Yemen.
