South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor has stressed that there is an obligation on all countries to stop financing and facilitating Zionist military operations in Gaza after the International Court of Justice indicated the reasonable possibility that these actions constitute genocide.
Pandor’s statement came in her intervention at the meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Palestine held Wednesday in Kampala, on the sidelines of the foreign ministers’ preparatory meeting for the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement which called on the Arab countries that signed the so-called “Abrahamic Accords” to withdraw from a path in light of the continuing barbaric attacks by the Zionist enemy forces.
In this context, she stated that during the period of apartheid that South Africa experienced, no African country in its geographical neighborhood recognized the apartheid government, out of solidarity and unconditional support for ending the apartheid policy.
Pandor appealed to “the countries that claim their absolute support for the Palestinian cause and denounce the Zionist enemy’s violations of all international conventions and treaties, especially the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.”
It called on the countries to adopt practical steps similar to what Pretoria took by closing its embassy to the occupying entity, calling to raise their voices to denunciate and not to be satisfied with modest steps or to hide behind the curtain for fear of reactions to their principled position.
The International Court of Justice ordered the Zionist entity, through its decision to take all measures in its power to prevent its forces from committing acts of genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza, in a case brought by South Africa.
