The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that the number of children who were martyred as a result of the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip exceeded the number during 4 years of conflicts around the world.

Commissioner Philippe Lazzarini denounced on the “X” platform what he described as the “war on children,” as he pointed out that the number of children whose deaths were recorded in just 4 months in Gaza exceeds the number of children who were killed in 4 years in all conflicts around the world.

In his publication, Lazzarini relied on United Nations figures showing that 12,193 children were killed in conflicts around the world between 2019 and 2022.

These numbers were compared with reports of the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, which indicate that more than 12,300 children were killed in the Strip between October and the beginning of last February.

Lazzarini also shared a graph prepared using data from the United Nations and the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, showing a comparison between the number of children killed in Gaza during this war and the number of children killed in wars over the past four years.

The graph showed that the number of children killed in wars around the world over the past four years reached 12,193 children, while the number of children martyred in the Gaza Strip reached more than 12,300 children.

In conclusion, Lazzarini called for an immediate ceasefire in order to protect the children of Gaza.
