An angry uprising broke out inside one of the UAE’s camps and extended to blocking the main roads on the occupied Yemeni island of Socotra, east of the Gulf of Aden.

The former leader of the “Southern Resistance” and political activist Adel Al-Hassani confirmed that dozens of Socotra recruits closed the gate of the UAE’s training camp in Hadibo last Monday.

Al-Hassani added that the recruits beat up an Emirati officer named “Saeed Al Kaabi” and a number of trainers in protest against the non-payment of their salaries in camps.

According to Al-Hassani, recruits followed Emirati officers and trainers to their barracks and blocked the street leading to the camp, amid demands to expel Emirati forces from the island.

He stated that the recruits stopped cars carrying foreign tourists whom the UAE brought to Socotra on visas granted to them by Abu Dhabi without referring to the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.
