The World Health Organization(WHO) described the extent of the destruction inflicted on hospitals in Gaza Strip as “shocking and horrific,” reiterating the call to protect hospitals and not attack them.

The Director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said in a tweet posted on the “The burned beds have been removed, and the safety of the remaining structure still needs a comprehensive engineering evaluation.”

He continued: “The Indonesian hospital is empty, and reconstruction work is continuing in an attempt to rehabilitate it,” adding: “We call once again for a ceasefire. The main medicine that people in Gaza need is peace.”

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, UNRWA, confirmed that it found unexploded bombs weighing 450 kilograms inside its schools in the Gaza Strip, after the Israeli occupation forces left the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Strip.

The United Nations announced earlier this month that cleaning the Gaza Strip of unexploded ordnance and explosive devices will require millions of dollars and several years.
