The Office of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Yemen welcomed on Monday Sanaa’s unilateral humanitarian initiative to release war prisoners from the other party.
The office said in a statement, “We welcome all initiatives to release detainees in connection with the conflict in Yemen, including the unilateral release that took place in Sanaa on May 26.”
The statement added that the United Nations encourages all parties to fulfill their obligations under the Stockholm Convention and international humanitarian law.
