The Central Bank of Yemen announced the mechanism for compensating the amounts of legal currency currently circulating in the occupied governorates, as follows:
Based on Law No. (14) of 2000 regarding the Central Bank of Yemen, and the announcement issued by the bank on 11/23/1445 AH corresponding to 05/31/2024 AD regarding compensating the amounts of legal currency currently circulating in the occupied governorates with their real values in illegal currency, the Central Bank announces the compensation mechanism as follows:
1- This mechanism will be implemented starting from Saturday, 12/02/1445 AH corresponding to 06/08/2024 AD, and will continue until further notice.
2- Compensation operations will be carried out during official working days from Saturday to Wednesday (from 8 am to 2 pm).
3- Compensation points are located in the following places:
– Al-Raheda Customs Control Center – Taiz Governorate.
– Afar Customs Control Center – Al-Bayda Governorate
Any other points will be announced later.
4- Legal currency is compensated with its equivalent in illegal currency according to the market prices shown on the signboard announced at the compensation points.
5- The amount allowed to be compensated in legal currency is as follows:
– An amount of 3 million riyals or less, is compensated directly once the amount is delivered to the compensation point.
– Amounts exceeding 3 million riyals must obtain prior approval to complete the compensation process from any of the approved compensation points by the compensation applicant filling out the disclosure form stipulated in Articles (23, 24) of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Law, and sending it on the business day prior to the compensation process to the following email address: LOS@centralbank.gov.ye) ) The disclosure form can be obtained through the following link: centralbank.gov.ye/upldImgAndFile
