Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto on Saturday called for an immediate investigation into the “humanitarian disaster” in the Gaza Strip and particularly the city of Rafah.

“I wish to address the recent tragic events in Rafah, in Gaza, which have resulted in numerous innocent casualties, including children, women and unarmed civilians. These heartbreaking incidents compel us to urgently call for comprehensive investigation into this humanitarian disaster. Understanding the full extent of this tragedy is crucial to preventing such incidents from happening again,” Subianto said at the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.

He noted that Indonesia is ready to send peacekeepers with international mandate to Gaza if requested.

In addition, Jakarta is prepared to immediately send medical personnel to operate a field hospital in the Gaza Strip with the consent of all sides, he noted.
