Western armies have failed in their mission to deter the Yemeni Armed Forces and stop the naval operations supporting Gaza, a French newspaper reported, considering the “Yafa” operation to be a significant escalation of the difficult challenge posed by Yemen to the Israeli entity and its Western allies.

Le Monde published a report on Friday stating that “the deployment of American and European ships in the Red Sea, as well as the American and British airstrikes on Yemen, have failed to deter the Yemeni forces from continuing their operations.”

The report considered that “the drone attack, which killed one person and injured four others in Tel Aviv, near the American consulate, on Friday, July 19, represented a new escalation in the challenge posed by the Yemeni forces to Israel and its Western allies. This action came in response to the Israeli bombing of Gaza,” noting that the impact of Western operations in the Red Sea seems “very limited, to the extent that some official sources are now questioning whether the current approach should be reviewed.”

The report pointed out that The Wall Street Journal reported a week ago about a worrying message sent by General Michael Kurilla, Commander of the US Central Command, to US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. In this message, according to American officials quoted by the newspaper, General Kurilla called for increased economic and diplomatic pressure against the “Houthis,” given that the actions taken at sea over the past seven months have failed in his opinion.

The report quoted Héloïse Fayet, a Middle East defense expert at the French Institute of International Relations, saying that “after months of launching the Prosperity Guard operation led by Americans and Europeans and the EU’s Operation Aspides, all indicators are red,” indicating no results have been achieved.

This acknowledgment adds to a long list of official American and European confirmations of the failure of all Western efforts to try to stop Yemeni operations supporting Gaza or curb their escalation, in addition to American military admissions of the difficulty of the ongoing battle in the Red Sea, considering it an unprecedented confrontation since World War II.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have been targeting the territories as well as Israeli ships and vessels affiliated with the occupying regime since October 7, when Tel Aviv began a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip. They have vowed to keep up their operations as long as the regime sustains the war and a simultaneous siege that it has been enforcing against the Palestinian territory.

Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Yahya Sare’e announced after the airstrikes that the response to Israeli aggression would include “vital targets of the Israeli enemy,” reiterating their previous statement that Yafa (Jaffa) is considered an unsafe area.
