Hapag-Lloyd, the shipping company that ships to the ports of the enemy entity, announced a 75% drop in the company’s net profit in the first half of 2024, as a result of attacks on ships and the security situation in the Red Sea.
A statement issued by the company said that as a result of the crisis in the Red Sea, the company’s net profit reached only 732 million euros in the past six months, down from 2.9 billion euros in the previous year.
The statement continued: We added new ships and containers in 2024 to meet the additional capacity requirements resulting from the security situation in the Red Sea against the backdrop of extremely volatile shipping rates and major geopolitical challenges. The forecasts are subject to a high degree of uncertainty.
