On Sunday, Foreign Minister D. Jamal  Amer met with United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen Julien Harneis.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation with the United Nations and other international and regional organizations involved in humanitarian and development assistance for people in need and those affected by the economic blockade imposed on Yemen.

The Foreign Minister affirmed the Government of Change and Construction’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the United Nations and related organizations, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen and international charters and treaties.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that United Nations and humanitarian aid are not used as instruments of political pressure by colonial powers.

In response, the United Nations Resident Coordinator highlighted some issues and stressed the need for cooperation to address potential obstacles through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He also noted the government’s observations on the work of international organizations and entities that enjoy treaty-based immunity, ensuring their activities align with the Yemeni constitution.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to develop guidelines for the operations of organizations, defining their roles and areas of work.

This aims to support their efforts and enhance the effectiveness of their humanitarian and development contributions.
