The Transitional Council factions, the de facto authority in southern Yemen, were subjected to a new attack in Abyan on Thursday.
Local sources said that a soldier from the Transitional Council forces was killed yesterday and another was injured in an armed attack in Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen.
The sources added that gunmen believed to belong to Al-Qaeda launched an attack on a site of the Third Support and Reinforcement Brigade forces affiliated with the Transitional Council in the Al-Kassara area, the entrance to Wadi Omran, in Mudiyah District, east of Abyan.
The sources explained that the two parties exchanged fire, which resulted in the death of a soldier from the Third Support and Reinforcement Brigade and the injury of another, while the losses of the other party were not known.
