UAE officially announced on Wednesday the death of about 13 of its soldiers for the first time in the history of the small Gulf state.

The UAE Ministry of Defense published an obituary for 4 soldiers in addition to 9 injured, claiming that they fell in an accident whose type and location were not specified.

The disclosure of this toll, which is painful for a small country with limited forces, came after American reports about Emirati participation in the recent Israeli aggression on Lebanon.

It was not clear whether these soldiers fell during the bombing of the occupation bases that Hezbollah focused on targeting along the northern and central regions of the occupation or in another accident, but its timing suggests that they fell in an occupation base, where they were participating in the raids.

This toll is the largest of the UAE army’s casualties from the Sahn al-Jinn operation in Marib, northern Yemen, where dozens of soldiers and officers were killed and wounded during the coalition’s attempt to storm the city, most of whom were from the UAE forces.

It is noteworthy that the United States had announced, through its president, that it would grant the UAE fourth-degree security protection by declaring it a major ally in the Middle East, in a move that was considered, in terms of timing, to be a reassurance to the state of the consequences of its involvement in the Israeli escalation in the region.
