The Ministry of Culture and Tourism held the mercenary government and those behind it responsible for destroying archaeological sites, stealing Yemeni antiquities and selling them in international auctions.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism indicated in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the ministry will not stand idly by in the face of the theft, looting and sale of Yemeni antiquities in auctions and capitals of countries participating in the aggression against Yemen and their museums by those who make a living from looting the wealth and capabilities of peoples.

It stressed that there are procedures and measures currently being taken to recover all Yemeni antiquities without exception.. Noting that recovering these pieces and pursuing and prosecuting all those involved in the crimes of stealing and smuggling antiquities and holding them accountable at the domestic and foreign levels is ongoing, and represents a national responsibility and one of the ministry’s priorities.

The statement called on local authorities, security services, tribal leaders and citizens in the governorates of Al-Jawf and Marib and others to double efforts and cooperate in preventing the smuggling of antiquities and uncovering and arresting those who cooperate with the mercenaries and prosecuting them and bringing them to justice in implementation of the provisions and articles of the law.
