The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Syrian Arab Republic, the latest of which was the aggression that targeted a residential building in the Mezzeh neighborhood of Damascus yesterday, which resulted in the martyrdom of Yemeni citizen Dr. Shawqi Al-Awdi, his wife and three daughters and a number of Syrian civilians.
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Wahid Al-Shami, considered the Zionist aggression on Damascus a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, international law and international humanitarian law, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons of 1949.
He pointed out that this cowardly act is an extension of the crimes of genocide committed by the usurping Zionist entity in Palestine, Lebanon, and several countries in the region, and reaffirms that the Zionist entity is a rogue entity that does not give weight to international values, morals, and laws.
He called on the international community, in the first place, to play its role in condemning this blatant aggression and to take serious action to compel the Zionist entity to stop its aggression against the States and peoples of the region, to destabilize security and stability and to threaten international peace and security.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the solidarity of the Republic of Yemen with the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, stressing its right to self-defense and to respond to the blatant aggression.
