Thousands of students demonstrated in several Moroccan universities on Wednesday in solidarity with the Gaza Strip and Lebanon in the face of the Zionist war of extermination that has entered its second year.
This coincides with a one-day general strike in various universities across the country to demand an end to normalization between Morocco and “Israel”; in response to a call from the “National Union of Moroccan Students”, the largest student faction in the kingdom.
Thousands of students organized demonstrations in support of Gaza and Lebanon in several universities, including Oujda (east), Agadir (center), El Jadida and Kenitra (west), and Marrakech (north). During these demonstrations, students chanted slogans such as “Oh martyr, rest easy, we will continue the struggle” and “Moroccan greetings… to proud Gaza” and “Morocco and Palestine… one people, not two” and “From Gaza to Beirut, resistance and pride”.
The students also raised Palestinian flags and pictures of resistance leaders in Gaza, including the head of the Hamas political bureau, Yahya Sinwar, and the late head of the bureau, Ismail Haniyeh. The call for a strike and demonstrations came on the occasion of the first anniversary of the genocidal war committed by the Zionist enemy in Gaza since October 7, 2023, with absolute American support, which resulted in more than 139,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, and more than ten thousand missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and elderly people.
Since September 23, the Zionist enemy has expanded the scope of the genocide it is committing in Gaza, to include most areas of Lebanon, including the capital Beirut, through unprecedented air strikes in terms of violence and intensity, and it has also begun a ground incursion in the south, disregarding international warnings and UN resolutions
