Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has called on the international community to take decisive action to halt what it describes as Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.

In a statement to Saba, ambassador Wahid al-Shami, the ministry’s official spokesman, urged the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its duty in maintaining global peace and security. He called for the council to pass a resolution under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, which would authorize measures to end the ongoing Israeli military operations and siege on both Gaza and Lebanon.

Ambassador al-Shami further appealed to countries around the world to exert pressure on Israel, urging them to sever diplomatic ties, impose economic sanctions, halt weapons supplies, and join South Africa’s legal action against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman also emphasized the need to hold Israeli war criminals accountable for alleged violations of international law.

He reiterated Yemen’s call for the recognition of Palestine as an independent state, with al-Quds as its capital, and for Palestine to be granted full membership in the United Nations. Additionally, he urged the suspension of Israel’s membership in international organizations.

Condemning Israel’s continued violations of international law, including its recent decision to ban the operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) ambassador al-Shami reaffirmed Yemen’s longstanding support for the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.

He also called on Arab, Islamic, and global communities to show solidarity with the Palestinian cause through protests and other forms of activism.

In closing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Yemen’s unwavering position in support of Palestine’s right to self-determination and its commitment to standing with both Palestine and Lebanon until the aggression against them ceases.
