The Kazakh Ministry of Transport said on Wednesday that a passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines, which was on a flight from Baku to Grozny in Russia, crashed near the city of Aktau, western Kazakhstan, with 67 passengers on board.
The ministry reported that 25 people survived the crash.
Russian news agencies reported that the plane was on its way from Baku to Grozny, Chechnya, but diverted due to fog in Grozny.
Kazakh authorities said that there were 62 passengers and a crew of five on board the plane.
