The Yemeni Bar Association and the Democratic School – Yemen (the Global Movement for the Defense of Children) signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation and partnership to protect children’s rights in Yemen.
The memorandum aims to achieve a real and effective partnership between the two parties through joint coordination in the areas of legal aid, training and awareness, which contributes to improving the reality of childhood and defending the rights of children deprived of their freedom.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Yemeni Bar Association by Mr. Abdullah Muhammad Rajih, President of the Yemeni Bar Association, and on behalf of the Democratic School by Mr. Jamal Abdullah Al-Shami, President of the Democratic School.
The memorandum stipulates the assignment of lawyers to provide legal aid in children’s cases, and the implementation of training courses and workshops on international laws related to children and legal assistance for them.
The memorandum also includes coordination in the areas of monitoring, documentation and advocacy related to children’s issues.
It is worth noting that the memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between community and human rights institutions, with the aim of providing a safe environment for children, in accordance with national laws and international agreements related to children’s rights.
