The head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, Abdul Qader Al-Murtada, revealed the latest developments regarding the prisoners’ file and the efforts made to achieve progress in it.
Al-Murtada said in a tweet on the “X” platform: “After the last round in Muscat, the United Nations presented us with a number of practical proposals to implement the Muscat Agreement that includes Mohammed Qahtan, and we agreed to them, but the Islah party in Marib rejected them.”
He added: “During the past week, we sent a number of local mediators to Marib in an attempt to find a solution to the file from any party, and the mediators presented several proposals and we agreed to all of them, but they were also rejected by the same party, even though they all include Mohammed Qahtan.”
The head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs confirmed that “the Islah party’s rejection of all these proposals confirms that they are using this file only for blackmail, and that the issue of Qahtan is just a pretext to justify their evasion and obstruction of any success in this humanitarian file.”
