Amnesty International Secretary General Agnes Callamard confirmed that the Zionist occupation authorities have been trying for more than a year to convince their allies and most of the world that their efforts to exterminate the Gaza Strip are a legitimate act of self-defense, and that “Israel” is waging a brutal and relentless military attack on Gaza.
Callamar said in an article in the American magazine Newsweek: The claim that the war of extermination on Gaza aims only to dismantle Hamas, and not to physically destroy the Palestinians as a national and ethnic group, even partially, “does not stand up to scrutiny,” as Amnesty International recently published conclusive evidence that the Zionist enemy has committed genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and is still doing so.
The Amnesty International official explained that the conclusion that “Israel” has committed genocide is based on exhaustive research and strict legal analysis, as our research shows – as she says – that “Israel” has committed acts prohibited by the Genocide Convention against the Palestinians in Gaza, including killing, causing serious bodily and psychological harm, and deliberately imposing living conditions intended to destroy them physically.
Callamard said that the occupation army destroyed Gaza with a speed and on a scale unseen in any other conflict this century, demolishing entire cities and destroying vital infrastructure, agricultural land, and cultural and religious sites.
She noted that the killing of tens of thousands of Palestinians in one year, and the toll of famine and disease, constitutes a staggering tragedy.
She continued: “What makes these acts genocide under international law is the intent, and the evidence presented in the organization’s report clearly shows that the deliberate goal of the Zionist military campaign is to destroy the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as statements made by senior Zionist officials have dehumanized the Palestinians and called for committing acts of genocide, revealing Israel’s true intentions.”
