Harvesting grain sorghum, millet in Hajjah launched

Abs Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Society in Hajjah province has officially launched the harvest of sorghum and millet in challenging terrains, including sand dunes and arid lands.

During the launch, Hajjah Governor Hilal al-Sufi and the Chairman of the Yemen News Agency, Saba, Nasr al-Din Amer, emphasized the importance of Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi’s commitment to cultivating arid lands with agricultural crops, especially grains.

They pointed out that the harvest launch is part of ongoing efforts to boost the agricultural sector in the province, aiming to achieve self-sufficiency and food security.

They also praised the efforts in cultivating these lands.

For his part, the province undersecretary, Ibrahim Zaid, confirmed the focus on utilizing arid lands and sand dunes by planting suitable crops.

Zaid noted that the harvest covers 80,000 acres of land planted with sorghum and millet, which are common crops in the Abs region.

He also mentioned that the next phase will see further expansion in the cultivation of arid lands.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Abs Association, Majid Odhabi, explained that the cultivation of these lands is part of the association’s plans to plant grains, contributing to the agricultural development of the district.
