Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the information received indicates that the United States and Britain in particular support terrorist groups in northern Syria.
Russia Today quoted Lavrov as saying in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson in reply to a question on who supports terrorist groups that are launching attacks on Syrian regions: “Russia has information on this subject, and would like to discuss this matter with all its partners, especially those participating in the “Astana format” to discuss ways to cut off terrorist financing and arming channels.
Lavrov explained that the information available in the public domain refers in particular to the Americans, the British and others, and some indicate that “Israel” has an interest in making the situation worse so that Gaza Strip does not remain under international attention, expressing his hope that the meetings scheduled to be held this week will help stabilize the situation in Syria.
Lavrov considered that the Astana format meetings on Syria is useful for the participants, and that the participating countries, Russia, Iran and Turkey, are discussing developments in Syria.
