The Ministry of Education and Higher Education said that 12,820 students were killed and 21,351 were injured since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on October 7, 2023.

The Ministry of Education explained in a statement today that the number of students who were killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the aggression reached more than 12,701, and those who were injured reached 20,702, while 119 students were killed in the West Bank and 649 others were injured, in addition to the detention of 542.

It indicated that 619 teachers and schoolheads were killed and 3,831 were injured in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and more than 158 were detained in the West Bank.

The Ministry of Education pointed out that in the Gaza Strip, 171 government schools were severely damaged, 77 schools were completely destroyed, in addition to 191 schools being bombed and vandalized, including 65 schools affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

20 higher education institutions were severely damaged, while 51 university buildings were completely destroyed, and 57 buildings were partially destroyed.

In the West Bank, 109 schools were vandalized, and 7 universities and colleges were subjected to repeated occupation raids, vandalism, and tampering with their contents.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that 788,000 students in the Gaza Strip are still deprived of attending their schools and universities since the beginning of the aggression, while most students suffer from psychological trauma and face difficult health conditions.
