Russia’s foreign ministry said on Tuesday that a Russian cargo ship called the Orsa Major sank in the Mediterranean Sea between Spain and Algeria, with two crew members missing.
The ministry said in a statement that the ship sank after an explosion in the engine room and that 14 of its 16 crew members were rescued and taken to Spain, Reuters reported.
A Russian cargo ship recently split in half and sank, with water spilling over the edge of its upper deck due to bad weather. According to Russian officials, one person was killed in the incident.
