Syrian Defense Minister General Ali Mahmoud Abbas stated that the Syrian army is engaged in a fierce, ongoing battle against terrorist organizations “backed by regional and international countries.”

In a broadcast by Syrian State Television on Thursday, Lieutenant General Ali Mahmoud Abbas confirmed that  the situation in the city of Hama is under control and the advance of Takfiri terrorists was the result of a temporary tactical measure by the country’s forces.

Abbas affirmed that Syrian forces are still positioned in the vicinity of Hama and are fully prepared to carry out their national and constitutional duties.

He vowed that the army would not hesitate to restore security to areas occupied by terrorists.

Abbas emphasized that the Syrian Army will remain an impregnable dam in the face of anyone who seeks to tamper with the country’s security.

He added that the Syrian army, people, and leadership, along with their allies, are capable of overcoming all challenges, no matter how severe or difficult they are.

The general also dismissed online videos released by terrorist groups as part of a false and misleading propaganda campaign, urging citizens to pay no attention to them.

He condemned Takfiri groups as the most brutal terrorist organizations supported by regional and extra-regional countries that provide them with military and logistical aid.

This statement from the Syrian defense minister comes in the wake of reports indicating that terrorist groups have seized control of Hama.

These actions aim to establish a strategic foothold on the path to Damascus, marking the latest challenge to Assad’s regime.

The Syrian army pledged to continue its operations to repel attacks by foreign-backed terrorists in the northwestern parts of the country.

The Syrian army’s anti-terror operations have killed at least 2,000 terrorists since last week.

Earlier this week, members of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) – a former al-Qaeda affiliate – were reported to have overrun many government-controlled areas and killed dozens of soldiers in northern Syria.
