The Executive Center for Mine Action in Hodeidah Governorate branch completed clearing 14 fields of the remnants of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression from mines and cluster bombs.
During the handover of the sites that were cleared by the center to the local authority yesterday, Tuesday, the governorate’s deputy for services affairs, Mohammed Suleiman Halisi, praised the center’s efforts in removing mines and remnants of the aggression that threaten the lives of citizens in a number of areas in the governorate.
He stressed that the aggression on Yemen is behind the increasing number of victims and those injured by mines and cluster bombs used by the coalition in its aggression against the Yemeni people.
Deputy Director of the Executive Center for Mine Action, Mohammed Al-Abdali, and the Director of the Center’s branch in the governorate, Yahya Sabr, explained that the areas of the 14 fields that were cleared by the center’s branch teams amounted to about 321,241 square meters in the city of Hodeidah.
They pointed out that the clearing works included four areas, including Sana’a Street, which was handed over today, Al-Khamsin Street, the College of Medicine, and Natiq Al-Dhabyani, each of which includes 20 fields, and will be handed over in the coming days after removing all hazardous waste from them.
They appreciated the contributions of the sub-delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the governorate in supporting the clearing of areas contaminated with mines and remnants of aggression and its mercenaries and opening a number of roads, educational and service facilities, and others, which had an indescribable impact on the course of citizens’ lives, their livelihoods, water sources, roads, and the daily fall of victims, most of whom are children.
