Yemen began marketing locally produced wheat on Wednesday.
This comes a few days after its decision to ban its import from abroad.
Social media sites witnessed campaigns by local production companies under the hashtag “Support the local product”. The campaign aims to market locally produced wheat.
The campaign organizers say that the local product is safe and healthy and at the price of the imported one, as the price of a 50-kilogram bag does not exceed 12,500 riyals.
Many local companies are working in wheat production.
The step is a new victory for the new authority in Sana’a, which began years ago to support wheat cultivation in large areas in the farms of Al-Jawf and the Tihama coast.
What distinguishes the new recovery is that wheat marketing came at a time when the government of change and construction decided to stop importing wheat through the ports of Hodeidah, in a step indicating that Yemen has reached self-sufficiency in this important material.
