Hundreds of citizens demonstrated yesterday in Zinjibar, the center of Abyan Governorate, which is under the control of the Transitional Militia; to demand the arrest of one of the accused of murder.
The demonstration was led by a group of sheikhs and dignitaries of Abyan tribes, along with dozens of farmers, chanting slogans demanding the speedy arrest of the accused in the case of the killing of the young man “Saleh Al-Maqbouli” the day before yesterday in the Al-Fish area.
The protesters moved from Al-Kawz roundabout towards the Abyan Security Department building, which is under the Transitional Council in Zinjibar, with the aim of pressuring security officials to do their duty in arresting the perpetrator who has been on the run since the incident occurred. However, the participants were surprised by the absence of the concerned officials inside the Security Department, which prompted them to head towards the headquarters of the Transitional Factions, chanting slogans demanding justice.
The demonstrators denounced the security chaos witnessed in Abyan directorates due to the absence of state authorities since the beginning of 2016.
In a related context, armed elements affiliated with the Transitional Militia were subjected to a new targeting yesterday in the occupied Abyan Governorate. Sources said that an explosive device exploded in a military vehicle of the Transitional Militia while it was passing on the main road in front of Qarn Ashal, near the eastern entrance to Mudiyah District.
The sources indicated that the explosion resulted in the injury of a number of militants who were on board the military vehicle.
The party responsible for the explosion is not yet known, but the incident comes in the context of a series of similar operations targeting the military bases of the faction loyal to the Emirates in the governorate.
