Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer met today with the Resident Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Yemen, Marin Kajdomkaj.
During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for the Commission to undertake and contribute to improving the conditions of the camps for the displaced, as they suffer from a severe shortage of shelter, water and health services.
He stressed the importance of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees sensing its primary responsibility in providing the necessary services to refugees and asylum seekers and not leaving them without providing the necessary humanitarian assistance, pointing to the focus on resettlement programs in a third country.
Minister Amer expressed hope that the projects implemented by the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees would cover the needs of the local communities surrounding the refugee gathering areas.
In turn, the Resident Representative of the Commission stated that the projects implemented for refugees take into account the needs of the local communities and provide services to them.
