The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza confirmed on Wednesday that approximately 80% of the displaced population has returned to Gaza and its northern areas over the past two days.

In a press statement, the GMO noted that specialized teams have warned the returning displaced individuals about the remnants of war left by the occupation army in the area.

It also pointed out that its teams are continuing efforts to provide relief aid to the displaced people returning to the northern part of the Gaza Strip, adding, “Large quantities of aid are still stuck at the borders of the Gaza Strip.”

The GMO highlighted a decline in the number of aid trucks entering, which contradicts the terms outlined in the ceasefire agreement.

Furthermore, it added, “No machinery has entered the Strip to assist in retrieving the bodies of martyrs trapped under the rubble,” and “The number of tents that have entered the Strip is insufficient to meet the needs.”

The GMO called for intensified efforts to resettle the residents of the Strip amid ongoing demands for their displacement.

Hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians continue to return to Gaza City and its northern areas via the “Al-Rashid and Salah Al-Din” streets for the third consecutive day, in an atmosphere of joy and determination to thwart plans for forced displacement.
