The local authority in Lahj Governorate condemned the continued targeting and bombing of shrines, tombs, mosques, and historical sites by the mercenaries of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression in the province.

A statement issued by the local authority in the province condemned the bombing and destruction of the shrine and tomb of Sayyid Salem Thabit in the village of Al-Farsha, in the district of Tor Al-Baha by the mercenaries , as part of a series of terrorist and extremist attacks targeting mosques, graves, tombs, and the shrines of the righteous within areas under the control of the occupation and its mercenaries.

“The bombing and destruction of shrines, tombs, and the graves of the righteous by the mercenaries were considered as an additional crime of the Saudi-Emirati occupation coalition, reflecting their brutal and vengeful practices. These attacks have turned graves, shrines, and mosques into targets of extremist terror and vengeance,” the statement read.

The statement emphasized that the actions of the Saudi-Emirati occupation and its mercenaries, including the systematic destruction of historical sites, cultural heritage, and religious monuments, are aimed at sowing chaos and sectarian divisions among the people of Yemen.

Furthermore, they seek to eliminate Yemen’s rich historical and cultural heritage, which dates back centuries.

The local authority called on international organizations concerned with preserving human heritage to take action in protecting Yemen’s heritage, historical monuments, and religious sites, which are being subjected to erasure and distortion by the aggression forces  and their mercenaries.
