The local authority in Taiz province launched the first phase of a project on Thursday to illuminate the city’s northern entrance. The initiative aims to enhance basic services and improve the quality of life for residents.
Implemented by the Public Works and Roads Sector, the first phase involves installing solar-powered lighting systems in key areas, including al-Dhakara, al-Sha’ab Residential City, Selah al-Muhandiseen, and the entrance to al-Samkar, extending to the Aden Roundabout junction.
Engineer Bakil Hamid, Director of the Public Works Sector in Taiz, explained that the project responds to community needs and is part of broader efforts to rehabilitate services affected by the ongoing conflict. He highlighted the use of solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective solution.
This initial phase is part of a comprehensive plan to extend lighting along major roads, aiming to improve traffic safety, reduce accidents, and support evening commercial activities. Hamid emphasized the engineering teams’ commitment to maintaining high-quality and technical standards.
The local authority plans to continue the project in phases to maximize benefits for Taiz residents.
