People and tribes of Qishn District in Al Mahrah Governorate organized a peaceful protest stand; expressing their absolute rejection of handing over a site in the “Liban” area in Jabal Sharwin to an Emirati company to establish a marine tongue project in the district.

The participants in the stand raised slogans denouncing the project, and their absolute rejection of any foreign interference in local affairs, considering this blatant interference to pose a threat to the environment and a drain on natural resources in favor of external parties and agendas.

The people and tribes of Qishn District in Al Mahrah confirmed, in a statement during the stand, their absolute rejection of the project, calling for transparency and the involvement of the local community in decision-making, while emphasizing the peacefulness of the movements.

The statement called for community solidarity to defend the rights of the people of the district and Al Mahrah Governorate in general, and their natural resources, and to work to protect “Jabal Sharwin” as a historical and environmental symbol.

The people and tribes of Qishn warned the concerned authorities in the governorate against proceeding with the project without taking into account the will of the local population, holding those parties responsible for any escalation that the governorate may witness in the coming days.

The statement stressed that the Mahra tribes and all national forces will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to defend their rights and sovereignty, stressing that the project will not pass no matter the pressure.
