Samir Baja’ala, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, met today with Ms. Enshrah Ahmed, the Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Yemen.
During the meeting, they discussed aspects of cooperation and partnership in social protection for women, particularly in the areas of rehabilitation, training, economic empowerment, and health.
Minister Baja’ala emphasized the importance of strengthening social protection programs, which are a priority for the government of change and construction and are at the forefront of the revolutionary and political leadership’s concerns.
He acknowledged the role and contributions of the United Nations Population Fund in supporting Yemen, stressing the need to expand its activities to reach all vulnerable groups and those in need of assistance.
The Minister assured that the UNFPA’s projects would receive full support and attention, and any challenges would be addressed to ensure their successful implementation, benefiting both women and society across the capital and all governorates.
In turn, the UNFPA representative presented an overview of its activities and projects in reproductive health and social protection, which are being implemented through 60 centers across various governorates.
She highlighted that empowering families and women requires diversifying training programs, including mobile phone maintenance, electrical work, car repairs, translation, midwifery, and product marketing—all aimed at improving income.
