Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari announced that efforts are ongoing to prepare the groundwork for the second phase of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.
Speaking at a press conference, Al-Ansari stated that the talks are set to commence on the sixteenth day following the implementation of the agreement’s first phase.
He added that no significant breaches of the ceasefire have been reported so far, according to the operations room overseeing its enforcement.
Al-Ansari added that Doha is keen on monitoring the technical implementation of the agreement on the ground and does not believe there has been a genuine violation of the agreement that could lead to escalation or the collapse of the truce in Gaza.
Al-Ansari pointed out that an agreement had been reached to release the Zionist detainee, Arbel Yehud, whom the enemy had demanded be released before next Friday.
He stressed the need to work seriously to deliver the largest possible amount of aid to the Gaza Strip.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson highlighted the significant logistical challenges facing the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip.
On January 19, a ceasefire went into effect, with its first phase lasting 42 days, during which a second and third phase will be negotiated, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.
