The Supreme Judicial Council, in its weekly meeting today chaired by the President of the Council, Judge Dr. Abdul-Momen Shuja’ Al-Din, discussed the annual statistical report of the Public Prosecution Offices for the judicial year 1445 AH, submitted by the Attorney General.
The report included the number of criminal cases filed with the Public Prosecution Offices in the capital secretariat and other provinces during the specified period, the cases completed by the prosecution offices at various levels and types, and the cases still under investigation and processing.
The statistical report also included the necessary indicators that contribute to achieving criminal justice, combating crime, and ensuring the security and safety of the nation.
The Council approved the report, expressing gratitude to the Attorney General and the staff of the Public Prosecution Offices for their efforts in improving performance, expediting case processing, and handling cases in accordance with the law.
The Council reviewed a number of grievances and requests submitted by some judges in accordance with the law.
It also reviewed a draft amendment to some provisions of the Civil Procedures and Execution Law No. (40) of 2002, submitted by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights and the Head of the Judicial Inspection Authority.
The draft proposed amendments to certain provisions of the law to ensure faster resolution of cases, simplification of litigation procedures, and bringing justice closer to litigants.
The Council postponed its decision on the draft amendments for further review, study, and submission to the Council in a future meeting.
The Council approved the standards and controls to be observed when conducting settlements and promotions for members of the judiciary, in accordance with the law.
Additionally, the Council discussed a number of other topics listed on its agenda, directed the necessary measures to be taken regarding them, and approved the minutes of its previous meeting.
